April 16, 1935 - June 29, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth J. Lesniak, 64, of 51858 Meadow Crest Drive, died Tuesday in her home, of natural causes. Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Denise Malone of Grays Lake, Ill.; a son, John Jr. of Sturgis; a sister and a brother. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sturgis. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home, Sturgis, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth Jane Lesniak, 64, of South Bend, Ind., and formerly of Sturgis, Mich., died on Tuesday, June 29, in her home. She was born on April 16, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Henry and Viola (Patrus) Schodowski. Betty had been a South Bend resident the past nine years, coming from Sturgis where she had lived from 1972 to 1993. Prior to that she resided in Roseville, Mich. Betty was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, South Bend, and Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sturgis. She loved all of life. Betty enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

On Oct. 9, 1954, she married John Lesniak at Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Detroit. She is survived by her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Randy Malone of Grayslake, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Toni Lesniak, Jr., of Sturgis; four grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Jim Leach of Lake Orion, Mich.; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Laura Schodowski of Macomb, Mich.; and by several nieces and nephews.

 

Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home, Sturgis. The Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The funeral Mass celebrating the life of Elizabeth J. Lesniak will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sturgis. The Reverend Father Leon Pohl will officiate. Prayers before the Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. (all Michigan times) on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Sturgis. Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
