Vera E. Lightner

November 3, 1907 -- December 28, 2004

                                       

Vera E. Lightner, 97, residing on S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN passed away at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born on November 3, 1907 in Mishawaka, IN to Delbert and Gertrude (Moon) Kronewetter and lived in this area all her life. On August 3, 1929 in Mishawaka, IN she married Floyd O. Lightner, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1974.

Mrs. Lightner is survived by two daughters, Sarah Staton of South Bend, Carolyn (Charles) Hosey of Tempe, AZ; one son, Charles A. (Margaret) Lightner of South Bend; six grandchildren, Martin (Nina) Lightner of Argos, IN, Duane Lightner of South Bend, Lynne Hosey of Chandler, AZ, Douglas Hosey of Phoenix, AZ, Beth Staton of San Francisco, CA and Kathy (Chris) Neubauer of Chicago, IL; and four great grandchildren, Pamela Lightner, Philip Lightner, William Neubauer and Greta Neubauer.

Mrs. Lightner was the second eldest member of First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka; and the eldest member of the Mishawaka High School Alumni Association. She was an avid card player and especially enjoyed her Bridge clubs

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2004 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Rev. Ron Bowman of First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The family will receive friends from 4:00 -- 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.
