Dorothy Ann Lincoln

South Bend, IN— Dorothy Ann "Dee" (Mason) Lincoln, 65, passed away peacefully in Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001.

 

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, with a memorial scripture service Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., also at McGann's, Scott Ostimer, 2nd Reader of the First Christian Science Church of South Bend, officiating. Dorothy requested no flowers but rather those wishing to may make contributions to either Memorial Health Foundation $KIDS$, 615 North Michigan St, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545

 

Dorothy "Dee" was born in Flint, Mich., on Nov. 6, 1936. She graduated from Northern High School in 1954 and then graduated from Michigan State University in 1958, earning one of this country's first degrees in "Early Childhood Development". She devoted over 41 years to nurturing and teaching preschool children in South Bend as the co-owner of Woodard Preschool, in Indianapolis at Carmel United Methodist, and again in South Bend at the Happy Day Preschool. Her strong, calm and loving methods have provided guidance for thousands of children and parents through the years. Her nurturing philosophy lives on in the many hearts she has touched. She will be greatly missed.

 

Surviving are her husband, Pemberton; her three daughters and son, Susan Schmidt Peters and her husband, Kevin of South Bend, Nancy Schmidt Kyme and her husband, John of Virginia, Mary Heather Lincoln of New York City, and Pemberton Hutchinson Lincoln III, and wife, Fawnda of Ohio; four grandchildren, Lisa and Stephen Peters, Andrew and Katharine Kyme; her mother, Mary Mason; and her sister, Beverly Shomsky of Flint; many nieces and nephews; and the love of her life, her Pembrook Welsh Corgi, Sammi.
