SOUTH BEND - John A. Liwosz, 76, of
North Elliott Street, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross
Care & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Liwosz retired in 1983 as a
South Bend firefighter after 32 years. He was born Aug. 1, 1918,
in South Bend.
On Nov. 20, 1941, in South Bend, he married
Leona Jeziorski. She survives with his mother, Julie
Liwosz of South Bend, and two sisters, Wanda Kielton and
Henrietta Cohen, both of South Bend. He was a World War II
veteran and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,
American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and Z.B. Falcons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the church. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, where members of the American Legion will conduct military services. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil service will be at 4:30 p.m.
