Lloyd L. Long

Feb. 2, 1918 - June 4, 2011

MISHAWAKA - Lloyd L. Long, 93, of Mishawaka, passed away on June 4th in Emeritus at Arborwood after an extended illness. Lloyd was born in Argos, Indiana, on February 2, 1918, to the late Otto L. and Esther C. (Brubaker) Long. Lloyd was a graduate of Riley High School, class of '36. On August 5, 1939, he married Martha L. Jewell, who preceded him in death on June 10, 2000. Lloyd worked as a tool designer with the Bendix Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1981. While at Bendix he served as a former union president. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 130, where he was a past Master, when the lodge was in Osceola, Lodge 742. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and the Square and Compass Club. Lloyd is survived by four children, Victoria L. (Dennis) Dale of Elkhart, Janet L. (Thomas) Kowalewski of South Bend, Stephen L. (Julianna) Long of South Bend and David L. Long of Mishawaka. He was a grandfather of 10, and a great-grandfather. Lloyd was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharron L. Heyvaert, on December 28, 2000; a son, Michael L. Long, on November 16, 2006; a grandson, Thomas G. Willard Jr., on May 27, 2010; a sister, Ruby Rockhill; and a brother, Harold S. Long. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, June 7th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A service celebrating Lloyd's life will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., starting with a Masonic service, followed by Rev. Ervin Mize. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Friends may send online condolences to the family at bubbfuneralchapel.com.
