Donald Franklin Loree, Sr.

Donald Franklin Loree, Sr., 71, of U.S. 20 in New Carlisle, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, June 23, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mr. Loree was born on Aug. 17, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to Donald and Ella Mae (Winslett) Loree, and had lived in New Carlisle most of his life. He retired from Huckins Tool and Die. Mr. Loree was preceded in death by his parents, and by a stepbrother, William E. Strong.

 

On April 30, 1977, he married Dorothy Modjeska, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Diane (Paul) Scales of New Carlisle; two sons, Donald F. Loree, Jr., of New Carlisle and David (Tammy) Loree of Holland, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Linda Sawyer of South Bend, Ind., and Marcella (Charles) Nicholson of Lynn, Ind.; a stepson, Michael (Leanne) Hendricks of New Carlisle; three grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren; and by a brother, James Loree of Cleveland, Ohio.

 

Mr. Loree was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 297, New Carlisle, and the V.F.W. Post 9423, Rolling Prairie, Ind.

 

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 28, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, with Rev. Ernest E. Geist officiating, followed by military services conducted by the American Legion Post 297, New Carlisle. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pet Refuge, Inc., 2300 West 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
