Phyllis Rae Louderback

SOUTH BEND - Phyllis Rae (Strong) Louderback, 83, of South Bend, passed away peacefully in her home May 26, 2007, into God's loving arms with her family at her side. Phyllis was born February 26, 1924, in Star City, IN, to the late Clarence and Avanga (Buck) Strong Sr. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Dorotha Waidner; and brothers, Warren Strong and Clarence Strong, Jr.

 

On July 6, 1940, in South Bend, she married Eugene W. Louderback, who died in 1995. She is survived by her children, Gloria Jean Dover and Linda Lou Vicsik (Joseph) and Richard Louderback (Donna,) all of South Bend; two grandchildren, Raymond Dover and Rhonda Cole; a great-grandchild, Lindsay Gene Louderback; step-grandchildren, Tara Stanton (Brett), Toby Albright (Shawn) and Joseph M. Vicsik; step-great-grandchildren, Kylie, Haley, Chase, Aleksa and Alley; and brother, Raymond Strong of Chapel Hill, NC.

 

Phyllis was an avid sewer and loved to crochet. She made many things throughout her lifetime for her children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She worked many years as a clerk/bookkeeper at Greenwoods Supermarket in South Bend and Oak Grove Market in Mishawaka. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and spent many hours tracing her family tree with her sister Dorotha. Her main priority was her family, and in her later years, she spent much of her time caring for and nurturing her great-grand daughter, Lindsay. We will miss you very much Mother and love you with all our hearts. The family would like to give a special thank you to Donna McGowen for all the care and love she gave our Mother during her final weeks.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday May 31, 2007, in Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, North 17033 Cleveland Rd., with Rev. David Bartley officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30th. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46637.
