Louis Lovechio

June 12, 1924 - Aug. 4, 1996

MISHAWAKA - Louis Lovechio, 72, of E. 17th St., passed away at 8:40 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 4, at St. Joseph Community Hospital. Mr. Lovechio was born on June 12, 1924 in Mishawaka, Ind. and was a lifelong Mishawaka resident.

On July 27, 1946, in South Bend, Louis married Hildegarde Niespodziany who survives with two sons, Larry Lovechio of Mishawaka, Ind., Thomas Lovechio of Bourbon, Ind.; a daughter Sharon L. Birdwell of Argos, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Lovechio retired in 1982 from Dodge-Reliance as an industrial engineer after 19 years of service. Prior to that he was employed at Studebaker Corporation for 21 years. Most recently, he was employed part-time by Momper Insulation of Mishawaka, Ind.

Mr. Lovechio was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Ind. He was a World War II Army veteran, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, past Third District Veteran of Foreign Wars Commander, past President of Post 360 Commanders Club, member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 360 Drill Team, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 360 All American Post Commander, and a life member of the National Home. He was also a member of American Legion Post 161, past President of the Hoosier ''A'' Club, past President of thePioneer Auto Association, a member of the P. N. A. Club, a volunteer at Battell Center and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Services will be a 10 a.m., Wednesday, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., today, at Bubb Funeral Home Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind., where a rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Military Rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360. Preferred Memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
