Edwin W. Luczkowski

November 12, 1922June 15, 1982

 

Services will be Friday for Portage Twp Trustee Edwin W. (Big Ed) Luczkowski, 59 of 2706 Prast, who died at 9:45am Tuesday at St Joseph’s Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home.

 

He was born on November 12, 1922, in South Bend and was a lifetime area resident.  Survivors include a daughter, Miss Charlotte A. Luczkowski of Mishawaka; a son, Marion F. Kalodzinski of South Bend; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lorraine Bucholtz of Fort Lauderdale FL, and a brother, Water Luczkowski of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 10am Friday in St Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Rev. Casimir Grabarz, CSC, of St Adalbert’s Church, formerly of St Stanislaus, officiating.  Entombment will be in the St Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.

 

Friends may call form 6 to 9pm today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7pm Thursday.

 

He was an Army veteran of WW II.  He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, a brotherhood member of the Boys Scouts Order of Arrow, and a Silver Beaver recipient.  He was a member of Pulaski Post 357 American Legion, Portage Manor Advisory Board, St Joseph County Welfare Board, Portage Twp Fire Department, South Bend Civic & Democratic Club, Polish American Business and Professional Men’s Association, West Side Democratic & Civic Club, First District Democratic & Civic Club, Achievement Forum, Notre Dame Ushers Club, a Selective Service Board member and he was a former coach of Bendix Post 284 American Legion baseball team.
