Services for Brother Frederick Ludwig CSC, 74, who died of cancer Thursday in Holy Cross House at the University of Notre Dame, will be held today in Sacred Heart Church on the campus. The office of the dead will precede the funeral mass and burial will be in the Community Cemetery on the campus.

 

He was born in Burlington, Vt. On Dec. 18, 1891. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Vermont in 1914 and entered the Congregation of the Holy Cross in 1917, making his perpetual vows in 1923. A year later he received his masters degree in engineering form the University of Notre Dame. He taught mathematics to high school students throughout most of his 43 years as a teacher, in schools conducted by Brothers of the Holy Cross. His teaching career began in Evansville, Ind., with later assignments at midwestern and southern schools. His last assignment was at Archbishop Honan High School in Akron, Ohio, where he left a few weeks ago, for hospitalization at Holy Cross House.
