Lorraine C. Lukens

SOUTH BEND - Lorraine C. Lukens, 84, passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Lukens was born on April 18, 1924, in Mishawaka, and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime.

 

On November 20, 1943, in South Bend, as Lorraine C. Krogh, she married James R. Lukens Sr., who preceded her in death on May 17, 2006. Lorraine is survived by two sons, James R. (Janice) Lukens Jr. of South Bend and Lance C. Lukens of Wilmington, NC; also surviving are four grandchildren, Todd A. (Kim) Lukens, Julie A. Lukens, Joseph Keely and Christopher J. (Danial) Lukens; seven great-grandchildren, Marcus Craft, Tony David, Tyler Lukens, Garrett Lukens, Gavyn Craft, Taylor Lukens and Nicole Lukens; three nieces, three nephews and four cousins. Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband and a sister, Loisa Krogh. Mrs. Lukens worked for Patton Monument Works for several years, selling monuments in the Michiana area. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who had the opportunity to meet her during her wonderful life journey. The family request in lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to a charity of donor's choice.

 

Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 6, in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be private, family only, and burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Lukens family.
