Sister Mary Mathias Lundergan CSC

Sister Mary Mathias CSC, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died in the motherhouse of the Congregation at St. Mary’s College at 9:30 p.m. Friday after a prolonged illness. She was born Rose Catherine Lundergan in St. Michael’s, Ind. on July 27,1887. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1905; receiving her habit in 1906; and making her profession of vows in 1911. She spent the greater part of her community life teaching in various schools of the Congregation, principally in Washington DC, Chicago and Indiana. Survivors include a sister, Sister Mary Alban CSC of the Provincial House in Ogden, Utah; and a brother, Rev. John Lundergan, of the Holy Ghost Fathers in Detroit, Mich.

 

A requiem mass and funeral services will be held in the motherhouse Monday morning. Friends may call in the infirmary parlors.
