Brother Theopilius Machalinski CSC, 98, the oldest brother in rank and age at Holy Cross Brothers Midwest Province, died Sunday at Dujarie House. He was born Oct. 20, 1891 in Erie, Pa. He entered The Congregation of Holy Cross on Dec. 8, 1907; professed his vows Dec. 9, 1909, and made his final profession June 29, 1918. He received his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from the University of Notre Dame, where he taught for seven years. From 1912 to 1972 he taught at Holy Trinity High School, Chicago; Holy Cross High School, New Orleans; Monsignor Coyle High School, Tauton, Mass.; St. Anthony High School, Long Beach, Calif.; Notre Dame High School, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Archbishop Hoban High School, Akron, Ohio; Holy Cross High School, River Grove, Ill.; and St. Edward High School, Lakewood, Ohio.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Holy Cross Brothers Center and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at the center. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m.
