George was born April 23, 1924 in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy, to Joseph and Maria Teresa (Tassone) and moved to Indiana in 1954 with is wife Iole Toscano, whom he married April 28, 1948. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Carmela Fuda and Julia Ierino, both of Italy, and Rose Fuda of Connecticut; 2 brothers, Emilio of Connecticut, Albert of Florida, and Mario Macri of Italy. Two brothers preceded him in death, Frank and Joseph Macri.

His kindness and generosity was not only known and felt by his living family, but also by the countless people who were fortunate to have known him. From the time he established Macri Jewelers in 1956, to making his wife's dream of a bakery a reality in 1978. He set high standards for his children to follow. "Nothing is more important than God and family. Treat everyone with respect and kindness, and smile, always smile." He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. "Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me, and I will give you rest." To all the kind patrons (our extended family), who have been concerned and offering comfort and prayers to the family during his illness, the family sends their sincere and heartfelt gratitude and thanks.
