Vincent C. Macri

Services for Vincent C. (Jimmy) Macri, 61, of Indianapolis, formerly of South Bend, who died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Indianapolis after an 11-year illness, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew’s Catholic Cathedral. Bishop Joseph R. Crowley DDD, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

 

The former owner of the Arcade Market and a co-owner of Macri’s Villa, he was known as the “fruit basket king” of South Bend. Born Sept. 18, 1913 in Siderno, Italy, he had lived in Indianapolis nine years, moving there from South Bend.

 

On May 18, 1946 he married Fana Presta, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas of Muncie; two daughter, Mrs. Dale Rogers II of Sterling Heights, Mich. and Connie at home; a grandchild; three brothers, Paul of South Bend, Joseph and John, both of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Agostino of Indianapolis and Mrs. Steve DeBlase of South Bend. He was a World War II veteran.
