Louise Evelyn Mahler

Feb. 23, 1923 - March 25, 2006

South Bend Tribune 3/27/2006

Louise Evelyn Mahler, 83, was gathered into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday afternoon, March 25, 2006, in her home.

Louise was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Peru, IN, the daughter of the late Nile and Lena (Lesley) Nicodemus.

She was married to Arthur L. Mahler in South Bend, Indiana, on October 19, 1940, and was his loving wife, companion and friend for 65 years. Together they founded the Full Gospel Church, Paw Paw, MI, in 1962. As mother of church and family she truly was "a virtuous woman whose price is far above rubies...and the heart of her husband did safely trust in her." The works of her hands brought forth many quilts, afghans and crocheted animals for her family and friends or peanut brittle for church fund raisers.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Arthur; three children, "who raise up and call her blessed". Son, Gene (Julie) Mahler; daughters, Judy (Larry) McEndarfer Sr. and Betty Lou (Glen) Burgett; 14 grandchildren, Larry (Lynette) McEndarfer Jr., Lorrie (David) Henson, Deb (Dan) Keister, Daniel (Mari) McEndarfer, David (Becky) Burgett, Angela (Andrew) McDonald, Gregory Mahler, Gena Miller, Zeb (Helona) Cadzow Mahler, Geno (Dorene) Mahler, Sunny April (Jon) Guerin, Elijah Mahler, Earl Lewis Mahler, and Tonisha Mahler; three sisters, Dorthy Buytas, Janette (Jack) Armey, and Deloris Lewis; two brothers, Roy (Millie) Nicodemus and Ted (Wilma) Nicodemus Raub; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A woman who feareth the Lord shall be praised...but thou excellest them all."

Family will receive friends Tuesday 3 to 8 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church, 32560 56th Avenue, Paw Paw, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. William Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery, Gobles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Full Gospel Church, Paw Paw.

Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. (nf)
