Carl J. Mahoney

April 21, 1895January 5, 1974

 

Carl J. Mahoney, 78, of 1108 ½ S. Main St. was found dead in his residence at 11:20am Saturday.  Police had to break down the door to get into the house.  St Joseph County Coroner Dr. Stanley M. Koscielski ruled the death was from natural causes and had apparently occurred from 48 to 72 hours before the body was found.

 

Mr. Mahoney was born April 21, 1895, in New Castle, and lived most of his life in South Bend.  He was employed by the Studebaker Corp for 33 years before his retirement.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Forsythe of South Bend and Mrs. Robert Burkhart of Mishawaka; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4pm today at the Forest G. Hay & Son Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St. Graveside services will be at 3pm Monday in Highland Cemetery with Rev. B. C. Anderson, pastor of the Southside Church of God, officiating.
