Norma J. Mahoney

Norma J. Mahoney, 67, of Victoria Street, South Bend, Ind., died after an illness at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, in Hospice House. Mrs. Mahoney had been employed by Crowe-Chizek. She graduated from Riley High School and Indiana University Dental Assistant School, and was a volunteer for the Civil Defense. She was born on Feb. 13, 1933, in South Bend, to Glee and Mary Bennett.

 

On May 2, 1953, as Norma Bennett, she married Leon G. Mahoney, who died on Dec. 13, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Lee Ann (Gary) Crawford and Amanda (Thaddius) Johnson, both of South Bend; two sons, Kevin (Jeanne) Mahoney and Shawn (Kim) Mahoney, both of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca Nyers, Constance Nyers, Christine Nyers, Jason Mahoney, Jennifer Mahoney, Ryan Mahoney, Karly Mahoney, Kerin Mahoney, Haley Johnson and Jacob Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Nyers, Devon Nyers and Morgan Mahoney; a brother, Cecil (Lillian) Perry of South Bend; two brothers-in-law, Myron (Virginia ) Mahoney of Arizona and Paul (Debbie) Mahoney of Texas; a sister-in-law, Diane (Virgil) Pittman of Florida; and by two nephews, Dan and Gordon Perry.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, in the ZAHORAN FUNERAL HOME, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services on Saturday and from 2 to 8 p.m. today, April 14, in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the Pet Refuge.
