NILES - Laura S. Makowski, of 1316 South Street, Niles, died suddenly after being involved in a two-car auto accident about 3:30 p.m. at South 11th Street, Niles. Laura was born on Aug. 24, 1953, in Mishawaka to Dean A. and Phyllis (Dundon) Korn, who survive.

On Dec. 13, 1991, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, she married Larry Makowski. He survives along with Laura's daughter, Melanie (Shawn) Vellucci of Mishawaka; two sisters, Kathleen Pietraszewski of Mount Prospect, Ill. and Mary Farley of Kenosha, Wis.; two brothers, Dennis Korn of Morrison, Colo. and Michael Korn of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Mikaela Vellucci and Nicholas Vellucci, as well as her mother-in-law, Henrietta Makowski of Niles. Laura was employed by St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, as a registered nurse for 14 years.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St. Wake prayers will be said at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Kidney Foundation of St. Joseph County or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
