Jean A. Manes, 86, of East 4th Street in Mishawaka, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4th, in Cardinal Health & Rehabilitation. Jean was born in Muncie, PA, on November 24, 1918, to Ardell and Josephine (Marcy) Bartlett.

 

As Jean A. Schalliol, she married Wilbur H. "Bill" Manes in Mishawaka on October 20, 1961. Mrs. Manes is survived by her husband, Wilbur; two daughters, Mary Jo Dubie of Mishawaka and Susie (John) Wallace of South Bend; four grandchildren, Michael A. Walker, Robert L. Walker, Melissa S. Seanor and Emily C. Wallace; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joseph J. Wallace; and by a son-in-law, Francis M. Dubie.

 

Jean was a longtime member of St. Andrew's United Church of Christ. She was also a member of VFW Post #360 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW #85 Wagner Auxiliary. She retired in 1981 from the Heath Corporation.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6th, in St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 320 E. 4th St. in Mishawaka, with Pastor Dale Speckman officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 535 Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the charity of the donor's choice. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
