Guenther Mannheim

Guenther Mannheim, 82, of Diamond Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Guenther was born in Oranienburg, Germany, on Aug. 5, 1917, and had lived in South Bend since 1948.

 

On Dec. 26, 1948, in South Bend, he married the former Anna Rubin, who survives. He is also survived by his two nephews, Victor and Marcelo Bukofzer, both of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and by special friends, Bridget and Michael Feeks of South Bend. Guenther worked as an engineer for the Oliver Corporation for over 30 years, and was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Association.

 

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, where Rabbi Michael Friedland officiated. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home handled arrangements. Contributions in memory of Guenther Mannheim may be made to Sinai Synagogue, 1102 E. LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
