Kern Manns, Sr.

June 11, 1935 - Feb. 18, 1998

Kern Manns, Sr., 62, of Knox, Ind., passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in LaPorte Hospital.

He was born on June 11, 1935, in Warsaw, Ind., to Adam and Margaret (Howard) Manns.

He was a lineman for the Indiana-Michigan Power Company. He had also worked for the American Home Foods Company of LaPorte, and Starke Memorial Hospital as an electrician maintenance worker.

On June 16, 1969, in San Pierre, Ind., he married Susan Jane Adams, who survives.

He is also survived by five children, Kern Manns, Jr., Arthur and Toni Baldwin, all of Knox, Jim of Russylvania, Ohio, and Darlene Barnett of Munith, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Price of Ocala, Fla.; and by four brothers, Everett, Herbert ''Joe'' and Elmer Manns, all of Knox, and Ray Manns of Ocala, Fla.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ossie, Pearl, Arthur and Delmar Manns; and by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Braman and Son Memorial Chapel of Knox, where friends called from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, North Judson, Ind., following the funeral.

Memorials may be made to Starke Memorial Hospital or to the charity of donor's choice.

Kern was loved very much by his family and friends and will never be forgotten.
