Sister M. Honorata CSC, former teacher at St. Hedwig and St. Joseph Schools in South Bend, died Thursday night in Saint Mary’s Convent on the St. Mary’s College campus. She had been a patient at St. Mary’s since 1952. She was born Stanislawa Manuszak in Poland in 1883. Her family moved to South Bend and she received her early education at St. Hedwig and St. Joseph Academy in South Bend. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1900 and received the holy habit in 1901. She made her final profession of vows in 1906 and celebrated her golden jubilee in 1956. St. taught at St. Hedwig from 1902 to 1921. She later taught at St. Michael’s in Plymouth, Ind.; St. Joseph in Harvard, Ill.; and at St. Joseph in South Bend. She is survived by five nephews and a niece.

 

A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call in the convent parlor.
