Lillian B. Maples

Lillian Bickel Maples, 84, formerly of South Bend, died Tuesday morning in Williamson County Hospital, Franklin, Tenn.  Mrs. Maples was a former Uniroyal Inc. employee.  She was born May 25, 1901, in St. Joseph, and lived in South Bend most of her life.  On July 3, 1936, she married Clyde G. Maples.  He died in 1974.  She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Collins of Franklin; a son, William Bickel of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Erma Scheibelhut of Bay City, Mich.; and a brother, Oliver Schuler of Granger.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where services will be at 7 p.m. today.

 

Editor: She was born as Lillian Sabina Shuler and married Wilfred Gotfried Bickel on 1-29-1919. This marriage ended in divorce.
