Mary A. Marando

Mary A. Marando, 88, of the Battell Apartments, Mishawaka, passed away at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, following an illness.

 

She was born January 18, 1917, in Anderson, Indiana, to Samuel and Elizabeth Perri, who preceded her in death. After growing up in Mishawaka, she married Antonio Marando on September 9, 1934, in Mishawaka, and continued to live in Mishawaka for the next 87 years.

 

Preceding her in death with her parents was her husband, Antonio; one son, Joseph; brothers, Frank and Don; sisters, Minnie and Catherine; daughter-in-law, Rose Marando; and a granddaughter, Lynda Catanzarite.

 

She was very active in volunteer work for the Battell Community Center, the Catholic Charities, including Busy Hands. She was a line dancer at Battell Center and a park player at Waterford at Edison Lakes. She was also a member of St. Monica Catholic Church where she served with the Rosary Society.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Frank) Catanzarite of Mishawaka; and a son, Don of California; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Marando of Crown Point, Indiana. Her grandchildren, Mike (Diane) Catanzarite of Mishawaka, Gino (Lisa) Catanzarite and Joni (Louis) Pecsi of Osceola; Tony Marando of New York, Mark Marando, Dawn Marando, both of California, Cathy (Michael) Quinn of Ohio and Marion (Steve) Paskash of Demotte, Indiana; her great-grandchildren, Michael Quinn of Ohio, Tyler Reamer of Mishawaka, Ashley Catanzarite of Osceola; her brother, Pat (Rose) Perri of Nevada; her sisters, Grace Baldoni of Aurora, Colorado, Ann Zirille of Mishawaka, Connie Bilancio of South Bend; her sister-in-law, Josephine Perri of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

 

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. today in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, with a Rosary service being at 4:00 p.m.

 

Burial will follow the services Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
