Rev. Roman A. Marciniak CSC

Funeral services for Rev, Roman A. Marciniak, CSC, 75, who was pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish from 1900, the year it was organized, until 1928 will be held at 8 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Church at the University of Notre Dame. Father Marciniak died Saturday morning after suffering a heat stroke while saying mass in the community infirmary on the campus. He had been living in the infirmary for the last six years. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood Sept. 9, 1947.

 

Born July 17, 1873 in Castle Garden, N.Y., Father Mariniak attended the University of Notre Dame and the Catholic University of America, Washington. He was ordained Sept. 9,m 1897, at Notre. After leaving St. Stanislaus her served as superior of Holy Trinity Parish, Chicago, and was an assistant pastor of St, Hedwige’s parish here. He is survived by a brother, Henry and a sister, Stella Mariniak.

 

Celebrant of the funeral mass was Rev. Sigmund Jankowski CSC, pastor of St. Stanislaus. He was assisted by Rev. S. A. Gruza CSC, pastor of St. Hedwige’s Church in Chicago, deacon and Rev. Francis X. Luzny CSC, superior of Holy Trinity Church, Chicago, sub-deacon. Burial was in Community Cemetery.
