Normand J. Marcotte

Normand J. "Chief" Marcotte, 86, of Fulmer Road in Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Lawndale Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died Saturday, July 24, in Holy Cross Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Winooski, Vt., on August 7, 1917 to Joseph & Appolina (Savard) Marcotte, who preceded him in death. Normand was also preceded by four brothers, Clarence, Roland, Bernard, and Leonard; and three sisters, Madeline Marcotte, Bea Barsalow and Jane DeCarreau.

 

Normand married Jeannette Rabidoux, who was the mother of his daughter, Rita (Raul) Carrasco of Bloomington, Ind. and his son Ronald (Sylvia) Marcotte of Spokane, Wash. She preceded him in death. Normand then married Beulah B. (Rushlow) in Winooski, Vt., on April 14, 1951. She survives along with their daughters Karen (Bruce) Rohen of Lake Orion, Mich., Susan (Lance) Oakley of Mishawaka and a son Wayne (Catherine) Marcotte of Granger, Ind. He has twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen (Clarence) DeForge of S. Burlington, Vt. and Rena "Mae" Marcotte of Winooski.

 

Chief was employed at Drewrys until their closing and then retired from Southmore Housing. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 9820 in South Bend and Bowlers Country Club.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday July 26, in Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
