Brother Raphael CSC, Of the Community House at the University of Notre Dame, died at 5:30 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital. He had been in ill health since November. Brother Raphael; was born Feb. 7, 1907, as Valentine Marczynski, and entered the Congregation of the Holy Cross about 20 years ago. He was a teacher in high schools conducted by the order and for last three years had been doing graduate study at Notre Dame. He was granted his doctor of philosophy degree in science at Notre Dame last December. Several brothers and sisters survive, residing in Chicago.
