Cynthia L. Marques

Cynthia L. Marques, 50, of Wagner Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Friday, May 21, at 10:05 a.m. in the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following an extended illness.

Cynthia was born July 17, 1953, to Walter J. and Waneta (Miller) Peterson in Elkhart, Ind. On July 19, 1980, Cynthia married Alfredo Marques at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Elkhart. Alfredo survives.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tammy McMullen and her husband, Daryl, of South Bend, Ind., and Ryan C. Marques of Mishawaka; her mother, Waneta Peterson of Elkhart; and a brother, Mike Peterson and his wife, Heather, of Elkhart. Also surviving are two sisters, Linda Benton and her husband, Bob, of Sandy, Utah and Sonja Vanderwall and her husband, Mark, of Elkhart, as well as two granddaughters, Allison and Rachel McMullen. Preceding Mrs. Marques in death was her father, Walter.

 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in Chapel Hill Memorial Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind., where a rosary will be given at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Hire presiding. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

 

Cynthia was a 1971 graduate of Elkhart Central High School, and was employed as a branch manager with the First National Bank until 1981. Cynthia was also a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Cynthia was very active and enjoyed aerobics, playing racquetball and golf, and skiing. Another passion Cynthia enjoyed was dancing. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Leukemia Society.
