Sister Mary Justine Marr CSC, 81, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died about 7:45 p.m. Monday in the convent. She was born Luella Cypriana Marr on Dec. 16, 1907 in Waltham, Mass. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 5, 1931 coming from Waltham. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1932 and professed her vows Jan. 6, 1934. She was a teacher serving in 1935 in 1935 at St. Mary’s College and at counselor of the Rome program from 1974 to 1980; teacher and registrar at Dunbarton College of Holy Cross, Washington DC from 1935 to 1952; principal of St. Patrick’s Academy, Washington DC from 1952 to 1955; academci dean and registrar of Cardinal Cushing College, Brookline, Mass from 1955 to 1957; and treasurer at St. Catherine By the Sea, Ventura, Calif. 1972 to 1974. She also served in many community service roles at St. Angela Hall, Kensington, Md. from 1980 to 1988. She is survived by a brother Harold of Hingham, Mass.; and three cousins, Sister M. Helen Patrice CSC, Sister M. Cypriana  CSC, and Sister M. Helen Crowell CSC, all of St. Mary’s Convent.

 

Services will be a 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the convent, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
