Camilia M. Martindale (Dec. 18, 1912 -- May 3, 2007)

SYRACUSE -- Camilia M. Martindale, 94, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Milford Regional Hospital, Milford, MA.

Camilia was born on December 18, 1912, in South Bend, to Frank and Josephine (Mikula) Nowak. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church, Syracuse, Daughters of Isabella and M.R. Falcons. In 1934, as Camilia Nowak, she married Frank Swartz Jr., who died on July 14, 1964. In 1968 she married Martin "Herb" Martindale. He died on March 9, 2003. Mrs. Martindale was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sue, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo (Jerome) Plencner of South Bend and Mardell (Tom) Fermi of Uxbridge, MA; three sons, William "Bill" (Mabel) Martindale of Flint, MI, Larry (Patti) Martindale of Syracuse and Ted (Diane) Martindale of Nappanee, IN; 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia DeMarco of New Carlisle; and a brother, Francis J. Nowak of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin de Porres Church, Syracuse, to Holy Family Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
