MISHAWAKA - Evelyn R. Martz, 92,
residing in Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday,
January 13, 2007, in Holy Cross Health & Rehabilitation
Center, South Bend. Mrs. Martz was born August 4, 1914, in Cass
County, Michigan, and had lived in the South Bend-Mishawaka area
all her life.
On June 27, 1936, in Sunnyside Presbyterian
Church, South Bend, as Evelyn Eddy, she married Herbert E.
Martz, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1978. She was also
preceded in death by two brothers, Newell and Lawrence Eddy. She
is survived by two nephews, Herbert (Christy) Eddy of Granger and
Floyd (Carol) Eddy of South Bend; and two nieces, Pricillia Favian
of LaPorte and Carol Condon of South Bend.
Mrs. Martz retired in 1985 as a nurse with the Visiting Nurses
Association following 30 years of service. She was a longtime
member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #569 where she held
many offices. She was also a member of the White Shrine of
Jerusalem #10, Order of Amaranth, the Social Order of Beauceant
Elkhart Assembly 129, and of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in
South Bend.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17,
in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South
Bend, where members of Chapter 569 will also conduct an Eastern
Star service. Friends will be received one hour prior to services
Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola. IN. Contributions in memory of Evelyn
