Sister Raymond (Elizabeth E. Sullivan) Mary CSC

NOTRE DAME - Sister Raymond Mary was born in Afton, IA, to the late Raymond Francis Sullivan and Katherine (Sullivan) Sullivan. She was the fifth child in the family of four girls and two boys. Sister is survived by her sister, Kateri Sullivan, IHM, Los Angeles, CA; nephews, Andy and Miz O'Connor, Bill and Tammy Dodds, Chet and Monica Grycz, Patrick and Diane Dodds, all of California, Mike and Julie Sullivan, Colorado, and nieces, Loraine Sullivan, Colorado and Eileen Sullivan, New Mexico. Sister was predeceased by her cousins, Sister Lorettyn, Ellen Carlos and Mother Gertrude, and her sister, Sister Mary Gertrude, all Sisters of the Holy Cross. Before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1950, Sister worked at Transamerica for over two years. Sister Raymond Mary was trained to be a teacher and taught in elementary and junior high schools for 11 years in California, Washington and Utah. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. Philosophy in 1964 from San Diego College for Women and her Master in Education, Counseling and Psychology from Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA, 1990. Sister was a principal for nine years in elementary schools in Utah, Arizona and California. She was assigned to work with the Corporate Renewal Team, then a Counselor, Administration in Colorado, Director of Volunteers at Holy Cross Hospital, Salt Lake City UT, General Councilor for five years, Health Care, Assistant Administrator in CA, and finally transition to retirement in 1998. Sister returned in 1999 to Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN, and was very active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception of the body and wake today, February 9, 2010, at 4 p.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Funeral service is on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
