Wilbur R. Mason

June 14, 1921 - July 30, 1999

Wilbur R. Mason, 78, of Prairie St., Elkhart, Ind. formerly of Mishawaka, Ind. died at 4:55 p.m. Friday in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born in Grass Lake, Michigan on June 14, 1921 and had lived in this area most of his life, the last two months in Elkhart.

Wilbur married the former Maxine Merritt on April 21, 1943 in Mishawaka.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Carol (Wayne) Wright of Galien, Mich., Kathleen Marks of Elkhart; and a son, David P. Mason of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren; Bryan Hafer, Shelly Young, Raylene Holdren, Jerry G. Fox, Tammy Braunsdorf, Sherry Buck, Heather Mason, Scott Mason, & Patrick J. Marks; five great grandchildren: Kaley, Kagen & Killian Braunsdorf, Brittany Buck and Janell Marks. He is also survived by a sister, Gladys Stemm of Elkhart; three brothers, Richard of Edwardsburg, Mich., and LaVern & Dean both of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents James & Fanny (Swartzentruber) Mason, a daughter Virginia Lee Fox, and by two brothers and two sisters.

He was a World War II Navy veteran serving with the Amphibian Corp and was honorably discharged in 1945. His hobby was making miniature doll houses.

Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. today in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
