William L. Massey

April 13, 1915 - Aug. 10, 1998

William L. Massey, 83, of Miller's Merry Manor, formerly of Front Street, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 3:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in the nursing home.

He was born on April 13, 1915, in St. Paul, Minn., to George W. and Edna Mae (Lee) Massey.

Mr. Massey retired in 1980 as an inspector with the Ford Motor Corporation.

On July 14, 1938, in Rochester, Ind., he married the former Dorothy Turak, who preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 1987.

He is survived by four sons, Daniel of Columbus, Ohio, Doug of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Ronald of Bartlett, Ill., and Mike of New Carlisle; six granddaughters, Lisa Chlebowski, Michelle Hardin, Cristina Gutierrez, Leslie Massey, Kimberly Colby and Melissa Massey Smith; and by seven great-grandchildren, Secelie Sawyer, Benjamin Sawyer, Daniel Colby, Karris Colby, Blake Massey, Abbigail Smith and Ashley Chlebowski.

Mr. Massey was a member of American Legion Post 297, New Carlisle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle. Burial will follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and one hour prior to services on Thursday in the funeral home.
