MISHAWAKA - William E. Mathis, 81 of Mishawaka, IN passed
away Wednesday April 23 in Golden Living Center. William was born
April 21, 1927, in Kennet, MO, to William and Cora Mathis who
preceded him in death.
His wife Florence; and two children, Joy and
Kenny Mathis also preceded him in death. Reverend Mathis pastored
three churches during his ministry in Bolivar, TN, Elkhart, IN
and retired from his ministry in South Bend, IN. He was also an
employee of I&M Electric. William is survived by five
children, Ronnie (Stephanie) Mathis, Scotty Mathis, Gregory
(Ravi) Chandran, Carol (John) Rybak and Pastor Tim
W. (Debbie) Mathis. Eight grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Tonya,
Tara, Lundy, Kari, John and Tommy also survive him; along with 11
great-grandchildren; a brother, J.B. Mathis; and sisters, Hazel Smithee
and Alta Warren.
Visitation is Fri. April 25 from 5:00 to
7:00 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home-South Bend Chapel, 3525 S.
Michigan St. Funeral Service is Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m.
in 1st Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 55933 Fir Rd.,
Mishawaka, IN. Committal will follow the service at Sumption
Prairie.
