Rosemary V. Mattasits

Jan. 15, 1921 - April 18, 1999

Rosemary V. Mattasits, 78, of New Carlisle, Ind., passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 18, in Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Mattasits was born on Jan. 15, 1921, in Danville, Ill., to Arthur and Mary Vickery. She had lived in New Carlisle since 1955. She retired in 1981 after nine years of service in the New Prairie School Corporation cafeteria.

On Feb. 22, 1941, in South Bend, Ind., as Rosemary V. Vickery, she married Louis S. Mattasits, who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Lloyd Vickery in 1972.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Ann Szilagyi of New Carlisle; her son, Robert Joseph Mattasits of New Carlisle; and by seven grandchildren, Christina Ostroski, Robert Louis Mattasits, Rachelle Mattasits, Stephen Mattasits, John Vernor, Margaret ''Maggie'' Vernor and Matthew Vernor.

Mrs. Mattasits was a member of St. John Kanty Church and Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Home Economics Club of Hudson Lake and the Good Sam Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, in St. John Kanty Church, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Kanty Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
