Caldonia Matthews

August 11, 1913 – June 20, 1979

Services for Mrs. Caldonia Matthews, 65, of 501 S. Scott, who died Wednesday, will be at 11am Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ.  Elder Donald Alford, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today at Alford’s Mortuary.  Mrs. Matthews was employed as second cook for nine years by St Mary’s College.

She was born on August 11, 1913, in Newdora AR, and moved to South Bend 40 years ago.  In Buffalo NY, she married Grant Matthews, who preceded her in death.  Surviving are two brothers, Lee Albert Wright and Eugene A. Wright, both of South Bend.  Mrs. Matthews was active in church organizations where she served as president of the Junior Mothers’ Board, vice-superintendent of Sunday school and a member of the Trustees Board.
