SOUTH BEND - Victoria Matthews, 82, of Woodbine Way, died at 5:18 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Mrs. Matthews retired in 1973 from the former Wilson Brothers after 40 years of services. She was born Dec. 17, 1911, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Oct. 14, 1933, in South Bend, as Victoria Wentland, she married George Matthews. He died April 4, 1987. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Polish Roman Catholic Society of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 4:30 p.m.
