Dr. Merritt C. Mauzy

April 13, 1919 – January 31, 1993

Dr. Merritt C. Mauzy, 73, of Tamer Court, died at 4:08am Sunday in Memorial Hospital following an illness.  Dr. Mauzy was a plastic surgeon, retiring in 1985. 

He was born April 13, 1919, in New Paris, and had been a South Bend resident since 1960.  On June 30, 1954, in Elkins WV, he married Dollie M. Simmons.  She survives with three daughter, Debra Melitz of Racine WI, Anne Mackin of San Diego and Mary Dooley of Auburn IN; a son, Charles C. of Elkins; eight grandchildren, a sister, Vivina Sechrist of Inverness FL and a brother, Arnold of New Paris.  He was a 1944 graduate of Indiana University Medical School, an Army veteran of WW II and a member of Indiana Medical Society, International Plastic Surgery Society and Ohio Valley Plastic Surgery Society.

Services will be at 1pm Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William ST.  Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory with burial in Elkins WV. 

Friends may call from 6 to 8pm Tuesday in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana University Medical School, West Michigan St., Indianapolis IN.
