Helen Diane Mayfield

January 2, 1943August 4, 1977

 

Mrs. Helen Diane Mayfield, 34, of 55200 Moss, died at 6:15pm Thursday in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  She was employed 15 years by the South Bend Medical Foundation as a registered cytotechnologist.

 

She was born on January 2, 1943, in South Bend and lived here all her life.  On February 16, 1963, in South Bend, as Helen Reed, she married Jerry Dee Mayfield, who survives, along with a daughter, Rebecca Lynn, at home; a son, David Wayne, at home; a brother, Charles Edward Reed of South Bend and her mother, Mrs. Dale (Anna Mae) Reed of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 11am Monday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, Rev George Bennett, pastor of Monson Chapel and Sumption Prairie United Methodist churches, officiating.  Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery.

 

Friends may call form 2 to 9pm Saturday and noon until 9pm Sunday in the funeral home.  Mrs. Mayfield was a charter member of the South Bend Crown and Gold Society; a member of the Society of Clinical Pathologists; a member of the National Ceramic Association, and a certified ceramic teacher.
