SOUTH BEND - Josephine G. May, 87, formerly of Ostemo Place, died Saturday at the home of her daughter at 1326 McKinley Ave. Mrs. May retired from the Notre Dame library in 1970. She was born April 23, 1909, in London.

On July 26, 1930, in London, she married Walter May. He died March 30, 1975. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Coppins and Shirley N. Abraham, both of South Bend; a son, Michael L. of South Bend; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Hiscocks of London. A grandson, Jonathon Coppins, died Jan. 26, 1988. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, is in charge of arrangements.
