Sister Mary Rita McAndrew CSC, 55, of the Holy Cross Convent, 211 N. St. Louis Blvd., died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital after a four month illness. She was born on March 23, 1921 in Chicago, and as Mary Catherine McAndrew entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 20, 1944. Survivors include a sister, Sister Ann Therese McAndrew CSC, also of Holy Cross Convent. She was received as a novice on Feb. 2, 1945 and professed her vows on Feb. 2, 1947. She taught in elementary schools in LaPorte and Michigan City in Indiana; in Davenport, Iowa; and in Danville and Peoria in Illinois. She was currently assigned to St. Joseph Convent.

 

Friends may call today, Saturday and Sunday in Saint Mary’s Convent parlors. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, on the campuis.
