Sister Mary Miguel McCabe CSC

Sister Mary Miguel CSC, died Saturday morning in Saint Mary’s Convent at St. Mary’s College after a brief illness. She was born Margaret McCabe in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1876. She received her early education in Ireland, and came to the United States in 1891 to enter the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She received the habit in 1893 and made her profession of vows in 1896.She taught from 1895 to 1912 and again from 1922 to 1936 at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Anderson, Ind. She also was stationed for nine years at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Davenport, Iowa, and for a year at St. Augustine Academy in Fresno, Calif. Surviving is a sister, Sister Mary Blanca CSC.

 

A requiem high mass will be held Monday morning on the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s College with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call at the parlor of St. Mary’s Convent.
