THE MORTUARY RECORD
Charles McCartney
  Charles McCartney, 61 years old, 830 Forest avenue, died Monday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at St. Joseph hospital. He was born March 1, 1859, and had lived in this community all his life. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the N. L. Jones chapel. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
  Mr. McCartney was a son of James and Louisa McCartney and was the last of his family. His nearest relative is Mrs. Mary Heinrich of Los Angeles, Calif.

[Buried: 5 May 1920, City Cemetery, South Bend, Ind., Lot 28, Block 4, Range 1W. According to City Cemetery records he died of lip and jaw cancer. He was the last to die of the seven children of early St. Joseph Co. settlers James M McCartney and Louisa (Clark) McCartney. Charles was a grandson of early St. Joseph Co. judge, farmer, tanner and miller William C McCartney.]
