SOUTH BEND - James A. McClanahan, 78, of South Bend,
Indiana passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in
his home. James was born on January 26, 1929, in South Bend, to
Clyde and Helen (Mills) McClanahan. He retired from Dodge
Manufacturing after many years.
James was married to Emma Lou Steyert,
who preceded him in death on May 10, 1994. Surviving are
stepchildren, Nancy White and Bernie Stafford; four
step-grandchildren; a sister, Verda Kidd of Dowagiac,
Michigan; and brothers, Gerald McClanahan of South Bend, Tom
McClanahan of South Bend and Alfred McClanahan of Plymouth,
Indiana. James was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a
former Volunteer Firefighter with Harris Township Fire
Department, a member of the BPO Elks South Bend Lodge 235, the
Dodge Retirees Club and the National Hunting Club. Cremation has
taken place.
There will be no visitation or services.
