MISHAWAKA - Michael Clayton McCoy, 65, of Lutts, Tennessee, and formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday morning, June 9, 2007, in Tennessee.

 

Mike was born April 27, 1942, in LaPorte, a son of Alfred and Catherine (Michels) McCoy. He grew up in Mishawaka where he graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1960. As part of the ROTC program, Mike graduated from Purdue University in 1964 with a degree in industrial management. He worked as a purchasing agent and also was a talented handyman. In recent years, Mike lived in the South and loved being in the country.

 

Mike's surviving family includes his mother, Catherine Shafer of Mishawaka; a daughter, Tracy McCoy of Lafayette; four stepchildren, Kimberly Melluck of Indianapolis, Jeff Martin, Diana Ritchie and Michael Martin, all of Lafayette; two brothers, Martin Craig McCoy of Naples, Florida, and Timothy George McCoy of South Bend; and eight grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Alfred; and by his stepfather, Daniel Shafer.

 

Mike's family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor John Nordstrom officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in Mike's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
