SOUTH BEND - Galen O. McCray, 86, of Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center, died at 12:05 a.m. today in the nursing center. Mr. McCray retired in 1972 from Bendix Corp. as superintendent of the foundry. He was born Dec. 7, 1909, in White County, Ind., and had lived in South Bend since 1929, coming from Reynolds, Ind.

 

On Oct. 25, 1930, in South Bend, he married Geraldine Gerard. She died March 15, 1996. He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Kendall of Buchanan and Karla Lawton of Hancock, Mich.; two sons, Robert G. of South Bend and Richard of Elburn, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence of South Bend. He was a member of St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 294, American Turners, Bendix Retirees Club, and American Foundry Association.

 

Services will be at noon Saturday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
