Mrs. Maggie L. McCray

December 1, 1892 – June 15, 1982

Mrs. Maggie L. McCray, 89, of 2517 W. Orange St., died at 5pm Tuesday in her home after a lengthy illness.  She retired from school teaching in Hickman KY.

She was born December 1, 1892, in Hickman, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1974, coming from Galax VA.  In 1947 in Galax, she married Bura McCray, who died in 1972.  She is survived by five nieces, Mrs. Annie Harris, Mrs. Ollie Grayson, Mrs. Henrietta Benman, Mrs. Anna Beth Thurmond and Mrs. Gladys Bigham, all of South Bend; and two nephews, Joseph Weatherspoon of South Bend and Mormon Weatherspoon of Vandalia MI.

Services are scheduled at 11am Friday in the Pilgrim Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles G. Rowlett, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier St.  She was a member of the church.
