Grace J. McCullough

Grace J. McCullough, 75, a resident of Mishawaka, Ind., for the last 53 years, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, March 7, in her home. Grace was born on Feb. 6, 1928, in Decatur, Mich., the second daughter and sixth child of George and Anna (Houseman) Vliek. She was a graduate of Decatur High School

 

On Feb. 10, 1946, she married Lloyd R. McCullough Sr. She was a 36-year employee of Uniroyal, retiring in 1984, where she worked as a supervisor. She was a member of Coalbush United Methodist Church and the Restless Rover Camping Club. She was a master quilter and made many quilts for her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by her family for family dinners and holidays.

 

She was preceded in death by Lloyd, her husband of 56 years; her parents, George and Anna Vliek; one sister, Esther Bella; and by three brothers, Henry, Louis and Ward Vliek. Grace is survived by four children, Ginger Marie (Jerry) Landis of Leesburg, Ind., Lloyd Robert Jr., Robert Lars and Bethany Ann McCullough, all of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Sharp of Mishawaka; three brothers, George (Gertrude) Vliek of Hammond, Ind., Ted (Joyce) Vliek of Portage, Mich., and Harry Vliek of Decatur; and by three sisters-in-law, Ella Orr of Hartford, Mich., and Betty and Gloria Vliek of Decatur.

 

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 10, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be in the Coalbush United Methodist Church on the corner of SR331 and Jackson Road, March 11, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur, with James Abshagen officiating.
